Late on February 3, Ada Vos, the second-generation owner and long-time face of Vander Giessen Nursery passed away at the age of 91. For 50 years, Ada designed floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, holidays and husbands who needed to get out of trouble.

Also during that time and in the years to follow her retirement from floral work in the late 1990s, Ada and her husband John ran the greenhouse operation at Vander Giessen Nursery, growing beautiful geraniums, huge begonias, lush hanging baskets and much more.

Though John and Ada retired in 2003, their impact on the Lynden community is still evident today in the many customers who come through our doors and reminisce about what Ada taught them and shop based on her recommendations.

While our family grieves Ada’s passing, as Christians, we do so with hope, knowing Ada is today in the presence of her precious Lord and Savior–someone she never missed an opportunity to tell about to others! We look forward to the day we will be reunited with Ada, but in the meantime, we’re thankful for the legacy she and John built and have left for us.

Ada’s funeral will be on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. Her complete obituary can be found here. Thank you for prayers for our family as we grieve Ada’s passing and celebrate the long life she enjoyed!
