The world in which we live is so self-absorbed, so consumer-driven, and so unfocused on others that the concept of gratitude is almost lost in daily life. While it’s no replacement for a day in, day out lifestyle of gratitude, Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity for us to slam on the brakes of “me, me, me” and simply pause to reflect on the abundant blessings we all share.
On this Thanksgiving holiday, we want to pause to express our gratitude to you, our customers, for your support in this past year. As we wrap up our 87th year in business, our longevity is wholly attributed to the faithful support of generations of gardeners who have shopped with us over the years. 87 years is a long time for anything to last–most of our earliest customers have long ago passed away, our town has grown exponentially in the decades since our founding, and even the way we grow and sell plants has changed dramatically over the years. Yet one thing has stayed the same: the faithful patronage of our customers.
As with any small business, our success depends on the community that supports us, and in this year, we’ve seen and felt that support once again. Whether you stop in once in the spring for a few flower starts, drop in to browse our plant selection a few times over the course of the year, or make a weekly trip to the nursery to refresh your garden or pick up a bag of fertilizer, you matter to our success, and we are grateful. While you gather with your loved ones around the table this Thanksgiving weekend, we hope you have a wonderful time reflecting on the blessings in your life–and know that around our family table, we will be giving thanks for your part in helping our business continue to thrive.
The Christmas season officially kicks off this weekend, and we can’t wait to share the beauty and traditions of the Christmas season with you. But for today and tomorrow, we give thanks for the blessings in our lives–and as we commit to making gratitude a part of our daily lives, we challenge you to do the same.
