To put it simply, thank you. 2020 has brought challenges none of us could have anticipated or properly prepared for, and while so many continue to struggle with the loss of jobs or school along with the worry about when we’ll ever get back to “normal” life, we count ourselves so blessed here at Vander Giessen’s.

In the midst of everything that happened this spring and has continued throughout the year, you came out to shop and support our small family-owned business day in and day out through spring, summer, and fall—often waiting at the doors for us to open in the morning. While so many businesses have been forced to close their doors for much of the year, we’ve learned to take nothing for granted and have felt so humbled to be able to stay open to provide for your lawn and garden needs through it all.

And we owe a thank-you to our faithful staff as well. When there were few other outlets for stress relief and pleasure beyond gardening this spring, our staff kicked into high gear, matching customers’ eagerness to shop by keeping plants watered, tables filled with fresh color, and customers served every day. We are so grateful—our team is small but hard-working and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their dedicated, tireless service.

Who knows what 2021 will bring. Frankly, this year has shown us it’s hard to read the tea leaves on tomorrow. And yet it’s instilled in us all the more gratitude, reminding us we’re promised nothing beyond our next breath. But whatever the next year brings, we can count on seeds sprouting, flowers growing and gardens burgeoning once again with their abundance. Whether you’ve been a first-time gardener this year or have had your hands in the dirt for decades, we’re deeply grateful for your business and we look forward to serving you in the coming year.

So, to our customers who shopped with us this tumultuous year, thank you. To our suppliers who worked night and day to help keep us stocked with products, thank you. To our employees who kept the tables filled and customers happy, thank you. And most of all, to our faithful Creator who causes flowers to grow and bloom in season, thank you.

With Christmas just around the corner, we look forward to serving you this holiday season. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving in whatever form it takes, and may you find blessings to be grateful for each and every day!
