As you may have discovered in the last few years–or at least gained a fresh appreciation for–growing your own food is both enjoyable and rewarding. Whether you’re a first time gardener or have shopped with us for years, we’re excited to help make your gardening budget go further with Tomato Days!

Each year, in late April or early May, we offer a selection of some of our most popular tomato varieties deeply discounted from regular prices at just 79 cents each, and this year is no exception–join us this year on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, from 9:00-5:00 each day for this year’s Tomato Days sale. This year’s 79-cent tomato selection includes Beefmaster, Better Boy, Bush Early Girl, La Roma, Marriage Big Brandy, Sun Gold Cherry and Supersweet 100 Cherry, limit 10 per customer, while supplies last. Other varieties of tomatoes will be be available for $2.29-$6.49 each, and we’ll have a wide selection of other vegetable starts available as well.

While you’re in, be sure to pick up the tomato cages you’ll need as well as the fertilizer and insect control your plants require to grow their best. To keep your tomatoes healthy and increase your crop yield, we highly recommend Jack’s Classic Tomato Feed, a water-soluble fertilizer designed just for tomatoes and other vegetables. With added calcium, Jack’s Tomato Feed will prevent blossom end rot, a frustrating deformity that leaves your tomatoes with hard, blackened ends. Use Jack’s Tomato Feed and your tomato plants will grow bigger, better and healthier than ever. And if you’re looking for a great organic fertilizer specifically formulated for tomatoes and other calcium-hungry plants, we also have Espoma Tomato-Tone on hand to feed your plants.

We look forward to seeing you this year at Tomato Days, and appreciate the opportunity to help you grow your own food!

What to Know

  • Doors open at 9:00AM each day. There is regularly a line at the door when we open–please be courteous of others as there are plenty of starts available throughout the first few hours each day.

  • Our parking fills up quickly this time of year. Overflow parking is available across Hawley Street by our warehouse and growing greenhouses–watch for signage and be conscientious of neighboring businesses and fellow shoppers.

  • Limit 10 starts total per customer at sale pricing. Additional tomato starts may be purchased at full price.

  • Tomatoes are first-come, first served. Key varieties sell quickly each day and are not guaranteed to be in stock throughout the day. Fresh inventory is allocated for each day of the sale, so if you come on Friday afternoon and we’re sold out of a variety, we will have fresh stock available on Saturday morning. We apologize that we are unable to hold or reserve tomato starts.

  • Be sure to stock up on the fertilizer you need for a successful growing season. Tomatoes are heavy feeders, meaning they need regular fertilizing for best production. Take home a tub of Jack’s Tomato Feed or a bag of Espoma Tomato-Tone to keep your tomatoes growing and producing juicy, flavorful tomatoes all season long.

  • If you’re ready to plant the rest of your garden, browse our wide selection of other vegetable and herb starts available just inside the front doors of our main greenhouse. We stock up on a huge selection of veggie starts for the sale weekend, so we should have everything else on your shopping list available and ready for you to plant!
